Happy hour; what a wonderful time of day. I suppose there are many ways in which people could fulfill this daily need for happiness, even if just for an hour or two, but there's nothing like a cocktail before dinner to bring on the cheer. That warm feeling in your tummy during winter, or the shine and glimmer of a summer buzz forehead, all from a time of day called Happy Hour.
Happy hour has become a popular term used at drinking establishments to promote a discount drink offer, or some other type of schtick to lure folks in. It does, like most sayings, have an origin that brings us back to the 1920's, US Navy sailors getting "happy" during "on-ship performances" (good ol' Wikipedia!). It was then that Speakeasy lounges (underground illegal drinking establishments during the Prohibition) got a hold of the term and began their own Happy Hours to liquor people up before they went out to dinner, sans drinking.
For whatever reason you may partake in an adult beverage, be it joy or sorrow, come join me for a Flagstaff Happy Hour this Friday November 21st @ The Green Room, 5-7 pm. 21+ Great Buffet, only $5 with drink purchase.
